“Measuring the effectiveness and accuracy of the ReadingPen when used by middle primary children and its effect on reading comprehension.”
An article by Helene Damave Mickle, Consultant for Students with DisABILITIES, Catholic Education Office of Western Australia. The article examines the impact of the ReadingPen in its effectiveness to be accurately used as a self-correcting tool by students with literacy difficulties in middle primary years.
“…Teachers who saw the pen in operation were very impressed with the simplicity, and compactness of it for student use as compared to computer software which works in a similar way.”
Mrs. Ann Collings, Primary Literacy Coordinator, Launceston Christian School, Tasmania
Taken from a press release issued after a donation made to a Kenyan school:
“Thanks to this assistive devise, the deaf learners no longer need to skip unknown words or spend so much time figuring out words, which ultimately impedes their comprehension.”
Fred Maina
“….he appears happier and is not afraid to show his friends and peers his new Pen and show them just what it does.”
Laurine A. Clute, teacher, East Syracuse Minoa School District.

“… The Readingpen helps my students during silent reading to be more independent. It is a tool they can use throughout their lives, which helps them to embrace reading rather than avoid it…”
Nancy Schrenk, Teacher.
“I have found the ReadingPen II to be a wonderful tool for students with dyslexia. Dyslexia causes students to struggle with decoding single words and they often will just skip a difficult word rather than struggle to decode it. With a Reading Pen II in hand, the student can “read” their most difficult words by scanning them and letting the Reading Pen II rescue them from a sea of missing words. Reading comprehension is much improved for students when they use this incredible tool”.
Dr. Denise P. Gibbs, Director of the Scottish Rite Foundation of Alabama Learning Centers
“I just wanted to write a little note to say I really am thankful for the Quicktionary II Reading Pen! My daughter is 9 years old & is dyslexic; reading & spelling are very difficult for her. This pen has given her some freedom. She can work alone & not be embarrassed because the teacher has to read & spell everything for her. In 4th grade it is important what the other kids think & this pen has given her some much needed independence! It’s been a little difficult for her to use but w/ practice she’s getting better! The most awesome thing to me is the way it divides syllables. Her teacher pushed her to use the dictionary but I’m sure you can imagine when you can’t spell or read well that is almost impossible! Now it is scan the word, press a button & there it is. I just can’t praise this pen & you enough!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for making my daughter’s life a little less complicated!!!!!!!!!…My deepest thanks…”
